You've Probably Never Tasted Real Honey.

The honey you know was cooked and filtered until the good stuff was gone. Ours never goes above 95°, straight from the hive to the packet. The first taste recalibrates people.

Hey, we're Drew and Ames. Founders of Pūngao.

When we set out to build this, we thought we knew raw honey. We didn't.

Turns out "raw" isn't a regulated word. No FDA standard. No line anywhere. So even the "raw" producers we worked with were heating their honey as high as 125° and still calling it raw.

Bees keep their hive at 95°. Go hotter and you kill the stuff that makes honey worth eating.

So why was honey getting called raw at 125°? Nobody had a good answer. So we wrote our own.

Why Raw Even Matters

It's Not Just the Sugar. It's Everything Around It.

👇 Tap each
Raw
Under 95°
Pasteurized
145°+
This is the whole point. In raw honey the enzymes and trace minerals control how the sugar is absorbed, so you get steady energy instead of a spike and crash. It's why honey is a real carb, not candy. Strip those out and the sugar just hits like sugar. The support system is what matters
Bees add enzymes that pre-digest the sugars for you, which is why raw honey burns so clean and fast. Heat destroys them: invertase activity drops by up to 90% and diastase by 60%+ at pasteurization temperatures. Up to 90% of invertase lost to heat
The polyphenols and flavonoids that fight free radicals start breaking down at just 104°. Studies show processed honey can lose 30 to 50% of its total antioxidant capacity. Up to 50% of antioxidants lost
Bee pollen alone carries 250+ substances: B vitamins, amino acids, and prebiotics that feed good gut bacteria. The fine filtering used on commercial honey strips nearly all of it out. 250+ compounds filtered out
Potassium, calcium, magnesium, and iron are part of what helps your body actually put the carbs to work. They hold up better than the enzymes, but commercial filtering and blending thin them out along with everything else. What helps your body use the fuel
Raw honey actually tastes like something: floral, layered, a little different from every hive. That flavor comes from the same pollen, enzymes, and oils that get cooked off in pasteurizing. Heat it down and you're left with generic, one-note sweetness, the flavor everyone assumes honey has. Flavor is the proof it's alive

Sources: Journal of Agricultural & Food Chemistry; published research on honey enzyme and polyphenol degradation. Figures reflect common pasteurization temperatures and times.

🔍 Read the label

And half the time, it isn't even honey.

This is a real bottle off a real shelf. Read the label: corn syrup first, honey second.

They cut it to save money. It still says honey.

The Raw Standard

We Keep It Under 95°.
Same as the Hive.

From Hive to Packet, Never Over 95°

The Packet
Still fully raw

Bees hold their hive between 90 and 95°. So do we, from the hive to the packet you tear open. Go hotter and you kill what makes honey work.

There's no law that says we have to. We just decided "raw" should mean something. It's slower and costs us more. We do it anyway.

Raw Honey Energy

So We Built It Into Something You Can Use.

We took raw honey, kept to our standard, and built it into Pūngao. Raw honey energy you tear open and eat.

Before a workout, before a run, instead of your afternoon coffee. Then we added three things, each as real as the honey.

Coffee Fruit Caffeine
100mg Natural Caffeine ☕

Coffee Fruit Caffeine

From the whole fruit. Comes on smooth, no crash.

Ceylon "True" Cinnamon
True Cinnamon 🍂

Ceylon "True" Cinnamon

Rarer, better, and it smooths the honey's energy.

Ancient Sea Salt
60+ Trace Minerals 🗻

Ancient Sea Salt

Unrefined, from a seabed sealed off 200 million years. What your muscles run on.

The Flavors

Real Freeze-Dried Fruit

Our flavors come from real organic freeze-dried fruit, never "natural flavoring." Original keeps it pure, the two fruit flavors add a bright note on top.

Lemon 🍋
Lemon 🍋
Bright and citrusy. The crowd favorite, tart against the honey.
Raspberry 🍓
Raspberry 🍓
Deep and berry-sweet. Rounds the honey out with a jammy edge.
